Not much for the Giants to crow about on either side of the ball in Sunday’s loss to the Rams, but Big Blue did have one nice moment: with just over six minutes left in the game, Eli Penny rumbled for a four-yard touchdown run, his first score since 2017.
Penny, who has been used mostly in a fullback-type role in his time with the Giants, had two rushing touchdowns as a rookie with Arizona in 2017. However, he came into Sunday’s game with just 33 rushes for 94 yards in 49 games with the Giants over four seasons, including five carries for 15 yards this year, mostly coming in short-yardage situations.
The 235-pounder’s rushing TD was his third carry of the day, and he finished with those three carries for 15 yards and one catch for one yard.
And, as FOX’s Adam Amin mentioned off-handedly, the two-point conversion that followed also had huge implications: the over/under for the game was set at 48.5 by many sportsbooks, so when Daniel Jones’ two-point completion to Kyle Rudolph made it 38-11, the over officially hit.
