The Giants have a new center, inking former Bills guard Jon Feliciano to a one-year deal.
Feliciano played guard in Buffalo under Brian Daboll and Bobby Johnson when the two were the Bills’ offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Buffalo released the 30-year-old last week, after he started 31 games over three seasons in Buffalo, and the big man was happy to announce he was heading downstate and sliding over a spot on the line:
Feliciano has played four games and 323 snaps at center in his career, including 203 for the Bills last season, so he is not a stranger to the middle of the line.
He will step in for Nick Gates, who moved from guard to center in 2020 and excelled, but was lost for the season in Week 2 last year thanks to a gruesome leg injury that could have ended his career.
Feliciano’s presence will allow Gates to work his way back slowly and potentially compete for a spot at guard with Shane Lemieux, who also missed most of 2021 due to injury, opposite fellow Monday signing Mark Glowinski.
The Giants have that group in the middle plus Andrew Thomas at left tackle, and could look to upgrade their revolving door at right tackle with one of their two Top 10 draft picks next month,
