Daniel Jones returned to the field on Sunday afternoon after missing the past three games with a lingering neck injury. But, it didn't take long for the Giants quarterback to suffer yet another scare inside the pocket.

During the opening play of the second quarter against the Raiders, Jones fell to the turf on his backdrop for a non-contact sack, and immediately grimaced while grabbing his right knee.

While the fifth-year starter managed to stand up under his own power after the play, Jones left the field with the team medical staff and went to the locker room. He was ruled out by the Giants at the start of the third quarter.

The extent of Jones' injury was unclear following the Giants' 30-6 loss at Allegiant Stadium. However, the team was fearing Jones suffered a "significant" knee injury, possibly a torn ACL, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

The injury to Jones likely occurred one play prior to Jones' exit, when his knee buckled on a dropback on the final play of the first quarter. Raiders star edge-rusher Maxx Crosby received credit for a sack on that play.

The 2023 campaign has been a nightmare for Jones, who entered Sunday with only 884 passing yards and two touchdowns in five games. Last year he led the Giants to their first postseason appearance since the 2016 season.

Jones was replaced by backup Tommy DeVito, the only other quarterback on the active roster. DeVito was promoted after veteran backup Tyrod Taylor was placed on injured reserve after suffering a rib injury in Week 8's loss to the Jets.
