Andrew Thomas returned to Giants practice on Wednesday, but he still faces an uphill climb to be active for Sunday’s game against the Jets.
Meanwhile, Daniel Jones still has hurdles to clear with team doctors in his recovery from a neck injury that has sidelined him the last two games, and he seems unlikely to play Sunday as well.
If Big Blue can somehow get either one back, Boomer and Gio agree that the choice is obvious.
“If you could get back one of the two guys for this week…the answer is Andrew Thomas,” Gio said. “It’s gotta be the left tackle.”
Boomer agrees, noting that the Giants have looked serviceable on offense with Tyrod Taylor at quarterback, and it is much more important to get Thomas back and bring more stability to the offensive line that has been in flux since Thomas went down with a hamstring injury in Week 1.
“They need as much help as you could possibly get,” Boomer said. “What you hope is that you can get both back, but Tyrod Taylor has helped calm everybody down. He’s looked like the 33-year-old veteran that he is…I think he has looked reasonably good.”
