There has been plenty of talk about the Philadelphia fanbase as the Giants get set to visit the rival Eagles on Saturday night, with a spot in the NFC title game on the line.
Evan Roberts declared the atmosphere at Philly sporting events, particularly big ones like an Eagles playoff game, to be much more muted than in decades past, but Gio is still a believer that Philadelphia sports fans are as rabid and hostile as ever, to the point where he can’t understand Giants fans going to Saturday’s game unless they’re part of a large crowd.
“Those Giants fans that go that aren’t in a large group…the isolated Giant fan, father/son, two or three buddies that are there, the Eagles fans on the way out…it’s gonna be hell for those people,” Gio said. “Why are you gonna sign up for that? No matter how the game goes, you’re gonna be harassed.”
Giants fans are hoping to witness the end of the Eagles’ promising season, and hope to see Philly fans’ hearts break at the hands of their team. But for Gio, the potential reward doesn’t outweigh the risk.
“You’re gonna pay how much money to go to this game and be completely harassed??” Gio said.
