The Jets had what Boomer and Gio called a must win game against the Patriots on Sunday, and now, the Giants are in the same spot on Monday night against the Seahawks.
If Big Blue loses, Gio fears New York football could already become irrelevant just one month into the season, after entering the year with more collective expectation than the city has had in decades.
“They didn’t win that game, and now the Jets fans are changing their entire expectations for the season, especially if Zach Wilson is gonna be the quarter,” Gio said. “And does the same thing happen for the Giants on Monday night against the Seahawks?
“They have to get to 2-2…we’re not supposed to have these crossroads moments in these seasons happen so early. It was supposed to be in December or January.”
The Jets are 1-3 with the mighty Chiefs up next, and if Big Blue loses Monday, they will also be 1-3 in a stacked NFC East. Simply put, a loss could mean fans already beginning to check out.
“We’re gonna have two irrelevant football teams marching into October,” Gio said. “When we never expected that would have been the case.”
