J.J. McCarthy has continued to rise up mock draft boards, to the point where reports have the Commanders now liking the former Michigan quarterback to potentially take at second overall.

Gio isn’t buying any of the hype, and hopes that Washington takes McCarthy so the Giants don’t at No. 6.

“I hope that is the case,” Gio said. “I said it feels like it is a possibility for the Giants to have a semi repeat of what happened with Daniel Jones. A guy similar to Eli Manning and Daniel Jones and has that type of personality, and he now is the next one to set them back. Eli Manning didn’t of course, but Daniel Jones did.”

Gio says there is something fishy about McCarthy suddenly being the most desired quarterback in the draft outside of Caleb Williams, and he hopes the Giants don’t fall into that.

“Nobody was talking about this guy being a top five pick until Jim Harbaugh and the Combine,” Gio said. “And all of a sudden, he’s a top five pick.”
