A lot of talk around the Giants this week has been about the relationship between Tommy DeVito and Daniel Jones, and how Jones may be handling the sight of DeVito becoming the feel-good New York football story of the season, and leading Big Blue to a three-game winning streak.
DeVito seemed to silence any idea of a conflict when asked about his relationship with Jones at Giants practice on Wednesday.
“He’s probably always the first text on my phone right after the game ends,” DeVito said. “I’m usually standing here the next morning next to him getting treatment. So we’re always talking. He’s always the first one.”
Gio, who said earlier this week that Jones must be loathing the sight of DeVito being celebrated by his teammates, joked that the texts may not be as friendly as DeVito made them out to be.
“Daniel Jones texts him, ‘Don’t forget, this is my team grease ball,” Gio said. “‘Don’t get any ideas, prosciutto face.’”
It was of course a joke from Gio, but he does believe that Jones is likely a little concerned with how things are trending with the Giants as he recovers from ACL surgery.
