Now that the Giants have been officially eliminated from playoff contention, Jerry and C-Lo looked back to try and point where exactly the season went off the rails for Big Blue.
Both pointed to a game under the lights at home in Week 4, where a big game against the Seahawks turned into a 24-3 flop, the second of four straight losses, and a stretch of seven losses in eight games.
“That was the season,” Jerry said. “Had they won that game, you would have been looking at 2-2, you would have gotten through the Cowboys and the Niners…I think you probably feel a lot different going into the Dolphins and Bills games. And they had a chance in both of those games.
“I think at that point in New York, with the way the Jets were playing because of the quarterback…it felt like football in New York was over.”
The schedule was daunting to begin the season, but after the Giants were coming off a road playoff win the year before, many expected more in year two of Brian Daboll’s tenure. Instead, fans are left wondering where it all came apart.
“The schedule was what it was,” C-Lo said. “But after we saw the offense perform the way it did in Minnesota against the Vikings, I think we all had higher hopes and expectations, and we just never got to that point this year.”
