The Giants have ruled Saquon Barkley and Andrew Thomas, along with others, as out for Thursday night’s game against the mighty 49ers.
Shaun Morash says the recent injury report suggests that Big Blue is ready to accept defeat in San Francisco against the Niners’ potent defense on a short week, and move on to Week 4.
“This is totally a white flag acknowledgement by the Giants,” Shaun said. “They had Andrew Thomas take the field in warmups, and he just felt a little stiff, and the thought was he would be ready for Thursday. He was supposed to be a game time decision.
“I think the Giants know, especially with Barkley out, if we win this game with these players, great. But the odds are, I don’t want to push Andrew Thomas or Azeez Ojulari into something where they further hurt themselves, when they are likely to lose the game anyway.”
Barkley was reportedly set to miss three weeks with a sprained ankle after leaving Sunday’s game against the Cardinals, but Brian Daboll surprised many by suggesting Barkley could play when speaking to reporters on Tuesday. That was seen as a long shot, to say the least, but the absence of Tomas leads Shaun to believe that the Giants aren’t denying the reality that they are a long shot to grab a win on Thursday.
