New York Giants acquire OL Billy Price from Cincinnati Bengals

The New York Giants have acquired offensive lineman Billy Price from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for defensive lineman B.J. Hill and a 2022 conditional seventh round draft choice.

The move, which comes the day before teams must pare down to their first 53-man roster for the 2021 season, is the Giants’ fourth deal this month.

Price was the No. 21 overall selection of the 2018 draft and played in 42 of 48 possible games with Cincinnati, starting 11 at center and eight at guard (seven on the left side). He did miss six games in 2018 due to a foot injury, but was still named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

The versatile lineman was a guard for three years at Ohio State before moving to center as a senior, winning the Rimington Trophy (given to the nation’s most outstanding center) and being named Big Ten Lineman of the Year and a First Team All-American in his lone season there.

Hill was the Giants’ third-round pick in 2018 and played in all 48 games for the Giants, starting 17 (including 12 as a rookie). He recorded 7.5 sacks, 116 total tackles (10 for loss), 13 QB hits and three passes defensed in his three seasons with Big Blue.

Price will help shore up an offensive line that saw Jonotthan Harrison and Matt Peart each miss some camp time on the PUP list, both Zach Fulton and Joe Looney decide to retire – the latter just five days after officially signing, Kyle Murphy lost for the season due to an ankle injury suffered in the first preseason game, and Shane Lemieux sit out the entire preseason with a knee injury.

The team did sign guard Ted Larsen on August 13, but Larsen was hurt in Sunday’s finale.
