Evan is all in on the Tommy DeVito hype, but Tiki tried to manage his co-host’s expectations when it comes to the Giants quarterback’s future.
“Let’s pump the brakes on Tommy DeVito challenging and being a starting quarterback in the NFL,” Tiki said. “I’m not saying he’s not great and this story right now isn’t fantastic, but it’s not like he threw for 350 yards and put it on his back.
“I give him credit…but let me see it against the Eagles. Let me see it against a team that’s better than them.”
DeVito didn’t throw for 350 yards, or 300, or even 200. But he did do enough to lead the Giants to victory over the Packers, while orchestrating a game-winning drive with less than two minutes to go. It was certainly impressive to Tiki, but he needs to see more before believing he can be more than a steady backup in the NFL.
“He’s proven it for three weeks. Three weeks,” Tiki said. “Against Dallas, he didn’t really prove it. He looked terrible against the Cowboys…he hasn’t made it yet.
“Do something first. Do something profound first, not just win a few games in the regular season.”
