The Giants are likely heading towards a high draft pick, but they will have competition for one of the top spots to grab a Caleb Williams or a Drake Maye.
Should they fall a few picks short, Boomer and Gio pondered a potential trade package that would help Big Blue move up to grab Williams or Maye.
“This is a very real possibility, if they win a couple more games and still want to take a quarterback,” Gio said. “Two [first-round picks], two twos, and a very good to great player. That’s what it would take…Saquon Barkley, franchise tag him and then trade him.
“I’m doing that 10 times out of 10.”
Boomer wondered if a team would want Dexter Lawrence over Barkley, but that’s where Gio drew the line.
“No, don’t you dare,” Gio said. “Don’t you dare send that guy anywhere. He is by far their best player on both sides of the ball.”
Boomer warned that, based on what the Panthers gave up to move up and draft Bryce Young last year, the Giants may need to give up even more than that for a prospect like Williams.
“That may not be enough for this kid,” Boomer said. “That’s the problem.”
