Remember when LaTroy Hawkins came to the Yankees and got No.
21, and fans got so upset that he got Paul O’Neill’s number that they gave him hell until he changed it?
That won’t happen again because No. 21 is retired in the Bronx, but it isn’t in the Meadowlands, even as much as Tiki Barber is now a semifinalist for the Hall of Fame – and unlike the Hawkins deal, several players have gotten 21 since Tiki retired, including bigger names like Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Jabrill Peppers, and Landon Collins.
But, the latest to wear it is…Mason Crosby?
Indeed, thanks to the NFL’s new jersey number rules, a kicker can wear 21, and that’s what Crosby – who wore No. 2 in Green Bay – took when he took over for Graham Gano on Christmas Day.
Tiki’s not as mad as, say, DeSean Jackson joking that a punter took his No. 10 in Philly, but that didn’t stop Evan, Shaun, and Loogy from needling him a bit on their first show back from holiday break!
