The Islanders will be without their captain for the foreseeable future.
The team announced on Friday afternoon that Anders Lee is out indefinitely with a lower body injury, and that "no further update would be provided at this time." Lee was injured in Thursday night's win over the Devils, where he and New Jersey's Pavel Zacha were tangled, resulting in Lee crawling on the ice in pain before he was ruled out the rest of the game.
"We're all anxiously awaiting to hear what the verdict is," New York winger Josh Bailey said after Thursday night's win. "He's the heartbeat of our team…we're just hoping for the best news possible."

Lee picked up an assist in Thursday's 5-3 win, the Islanders' seventh straight victory. The team's surge has them atop the east division with 38 points. So far this season, Lee has 12 goals and seven assists in 27 games.
The Islanders are back in action Saturday night in a rematch with New Jersey.
