Top prospect William Dufour is officially an Islander, as the team announced Thursday that Dufour has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry level contract.
Dufour, 20, has played 61 games with Saint John in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and leads the circuit with 52 goals and 109 points - the latter total a Sea Dogs franchise record for points in a single season. He also leads the QMJHL in game-winning goals with 12, is tied for the league lead in power-play goals with 17, and is tied for third in plus-minus (+51) and sixth in assists (57).
The Islanders selected Dufour in the fifth round (No. 152 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, and he has 106 goals and 108 assists in 197 career games over four seasons in the QMJHL with Drummondville, Chicoutimi, Rouyn-Noranda, and Saint John.
