NHL free agency officially kicks off at noon, but the Islanders reportedly already have a couple done, and could be waiting until the official start time to announce them.
According to multiple reports, New York has signed veteran Zach Parise to a deal, while a fellow former Devil in Kyle Palmieri is also signed. Palmieri was brought over with Travis Zajac in a trade with New Jersey this past season, and made an immediate playoff impact with two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, in game one of the Islanders’ first-round win over Pittsburgh.
Palmieri only logged 10 goals last season between New York and New Jersey, but the 30-year-old had scored at least 20 goals in each of his previous five seasons.
Parise has been linked to the Islanders since he was bought out of the rest of his 13-year deal by the Wild. He had seven goals in 45 games last season, but at least 25 in his previous two seasons. He would likely be agreeing to a one-year deal.
