Boomer cautions Jets fans thinking big after offseason moves: 'We've seen this before'

Boomer praises the Jets’ offseason moves, but he cautions those shouting their excitement from the rooftops to remember that the team’s recent additions are no sure thing.

“All this stuff looks great. I love the signing of Tyron Smith if he’s healthy, and Mike Williams if he’s healthy,” Boomer said. “But all these guys are signing one-year deals. You have to be careful with these guys. You never know.”

Both Smith and Williams have their injury concerns, and the Jets are barely a year removed from one crippling injury derailing their season. So, while Boomer believes the Jets have undoubtedly improved their roster, we have seen just a season ago that things can go awry in a hurry.

“I do worry, I always worry. It is a young man’s game,” Boomer said. “You bring guys in off of knee injuries, ankle injuries, we’ve seen this before with the Jets, when guys can’t make it through the season.

“I’m happy to see what Joe Douglas has done…but as I said before the Super Bowl, if these guys don’t get it right, and they can’t stay healthy, they’re gonna be looking for new jobs.”
