News of Robert Saleh’s firing broke just after Boomer and Gio went off the air on Tuesday morning, so Boomer was ready to give his thoughts on the move, one that he said earlier in the week could happen if the team didn’t turn things around.
“I was not surprised. Maybe surprised at the timing and how early it was,” Boomer said. “It’s a weird spot to do it, but I also understand why.
“There is tension on the offensive side of the football. We talked about it…and you could see it. We talked about the body language and people not talking to each other.”
Boomer did mention weeks back that Saleh and Rodgers seemed to have an icy relationship on the sideline, and a week later, mentioned the lack of “creativity” on offense. He believes all of it played a factor in Saleh’s departure.
“I thought Woody would give him one more week to see if he could beat Buffalo,” Boomer said. “The one thing I do see watching these games and knowing offense…I don’t see a lot of creativity.
“There’s people that are not prepared, and Aaron Rodgers is one of those guys. This game has changed significantly over the last 5-10 years, and I think defenses are seeing a very vanilla offense. I think Aaron likes it that way…I think the Broncos and Vikings completely out-game planned the Jets offense and their offense coordinator over the last two games.”
