Boomer & Gio react to Jets reportedly seeking new hire to lead offense over Nathaniel Hackett

According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Jets made a real attempt to make a coaching hire that would have essentially taken over offensive play calling from Nathaniel Hackett.

Boomer and Gio reacted to the report on Tuesday morning, with Boomer seeing it as a potential crack in the power structure of Hackett, Robert Saleh, and Aaron Rodgers.

“I don’t like the idea or the sound of that,” Boomer said.

“You never know about a coach until you start coaching with them and around them and see how they react during a game when it comes time to call plays and create opportunities for players to be successful.”

Gio had his doubts about Hackett after a disastrous season with the Broncos before arriving in New York with Rodgers, but he isn’t sure one year was enough to evaluate Hackett, especially after the quarterback disaster that took place after Aaron Rodgers went down in Week 1.

“I don’t know how you really evaluate Nathaniel Hackett after the Zach Wilson show was in town once again,” Gio said.
