Zach Wilson will be the Jets starting quarterback this weekend, and Boomer wants to see the former No. 2 overall pick play a little angry, like he is motivated to silence the critics who loathe having to watch him play again.
“You gotta hope Zach Wilson is coming back with a chip on his shoulder,” Boomer said. “Get pissed off. Get out there and get pissed off. Play pissed off. Play like you believe in yourself.”
Boomer may not believe in Wilson anymore, at least not as a Jet, but if Wilson believes, and plays like he wants to rub it in the face of those who don’t, perhaps he can find another level to his game.
In the meantime, Boomer hopes fans give him a chance to find it.
“There’s gonna be dropped passes. There’s gonna be sacks,” Boomer said. “He’s gonna be running around. I hope the Jet fan gives him a chance before they start unloading on him.”
