The Jets desperately need a win on Sunday, but it will be a tall order going up against the Super Bowl champs in the Chiefs, who looked like a well-oiled machine against the lowly Bears a week ago.
But BT says the best chance at revealing anything valuable for Gang Green also happens to be the best way to figure out, once and for all, if Zach Wilson has any promise: open up the playbook and let the struggling quarterback play free.
“I would rather see the Jets get pasted, punked, waxed, destroyed…I’d rather see the complete, utter, final obliteration of Zach Wilson, then lose 23-9, and they just keep it close or try to,” BT said. “They must unleash this kid…throw it down the field. Try to make plays. If he stinks, he’s on the bench forever and then he’s off the team after this season, but you get the answer.”
BT felt Wilson looked his best against the Patriots once the Jets finally began to let him throw the ball downfield, rather than rely on the run game and short, quick passes to get the ball out of Wilson’s hands in a hurry. Sure, opening things up may just confirm that Wilson is a bust, but at least the Jets would have an answer.
“Stop half-stepping this, and go for it,” BT said. “Unleash this kid, and let’s see what he can do. I don’t care about any more developmental stuff. I need to see this kid fling it.”
