C.J. Mosley told reporters back in June that it’s “playoffs or bust” for the Jets this season, and doubled down on that declaration on Wednesday.
Gio loves the enthusiasm, but can’t see it happening, even with the promising offseason.
“That would be a tremendous leap from where they have been,” Gio said. “Of course they had a big offseason and a draft people have been lauding, but to make it to the playoffs this year would still be a shocker, especially in an AFC that’s loaded.
“The Jets making the playoffs this year would be 100 percent shocker.”
The Jets have won just six games in the last two years combined, and would need a lot more than that to make the kind of turnaround that would end in a playoff berth. Gio isn’t buying it, and not buying the declaration either.
“It’s almost a false proclamation because you say ‘playoffs or bust,’” Gio said. “What’s the ‘bust?’”
