C-Mac: Credit Zach Wilson for his big game, but his Jets career is over

C-Mac gave Zach Wilson all the credit in the world for throwing over 300 yards and putting together his best game of the season on Sunday, but he isn’t letting that take him away from the reality that Wilson’s career in New York is done.

“It’s over for Zach Wilson, and I still feel that way,” C-Mac said. “The Jets and Zach Wilson are no more.

“Maybe I’m wrong, but I think going into this, he felt like ‘The season is now over, the team no longer has faith in me…what the hell? Just go out there and let it rip.’ I even thought from the first drive…I thought you saw the best and most comfortable Zach Wilson you’ve seen in a Jets uniform.”

There were flashes of promise in Sunday’s blowout win over a Texans team that is competing for a playoff spot, but C-Mac says it is too little too late with the Jets, who should be happy that Wilson played well because it can boost his trade value.

“We know he’s talented…nobody doubts there is talent in there,” C-Mac said. “If the Jets or someone else moving forward can actually get it out of the kid, you might be able to see more performances like this.

“You’ve seen the talent, now maybe you can get a third-round pick for him. He’s not gonna be here next year.”
