Jets linebacker CJ Mosley told reporters that he plans on helping in recruiting free agents in the offseason, and he appears to already have his sales pitch nailed down.
While some might view New York as an unattractive destination given the team’s recent run of dread, which includes a current 4-12 record and a last-place standing in the AFC East, Mosley plans to present signing with the Jets as an opportunity to be the face of a drastic turnaround.

“You should be the reason why they should win,” Mosley said. “That's why I came to the New York Jets. I wanted to come here and turn a losing organization around and be a part of that.”
Mosley signed with the Jets in 2019 on a five-year, $85 million deal, but he hasn’t been able to see the franchise turn things around just yet. Mosley barely saw the field over his first two seasons, suffering a groin injury early in his debut campaign before opting out of last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But he became an established presence on defense and emerged as a leader in an otherwise frustrating season, and now he wants to lead free agents to New York, which currently carries a black eye for losing football.
But Mosley believes that’s even more of a reason to come.
“If you're scared to come here because you think you might lose, then don't come,” Mosley said. “If you want to come here to change the culture, to change the atmosphere and prove that you can be one of the best players to help this organization and get back to a Super Bowl, then bring everybody with you and bring that mindset. That’s all we need.
“If you come in with negativity and doubt, then there’s no point of even coming. If you want to be a part of something special and believe in something special, then the door is open for you.”
