Jets head coach Robert Saleh cracked a smile on Friday when he told reporters that wide receiver Denzel Mims would be active for Sunday’s game against the Titans.
The 2020 second-round pick had been inactive for the last two games, with Saleh offering reasons such as Mims’ late start to camp because of food poisoning, and his lack of special teams play. Many Jets fans have been clamoring to see Mims on the field to provide a spark for a Jets offense that has managed just six points in the last two games, and with injuries to the receiving core, it looks like Sunday will be that day.

Elijah Moore and Jamison Crowder are both battling injuries, opening up the door for Mims, who has just one catch on the season. Crowder is expected to play, per Saleh, but that would still only leave the Jets with five healthy receivers with Mims in the fold.

As for who won’t be on the field Sunday, Saleh said that both Marcus Maye and Jeff Smith have been ruled out, while Moore won’t be dressed due to a concussion. Maye is expected to be back for New York’s road game against the Patriots on Oct. 24, after the bye week.
