Joe Douglas has faced more criticism this season than any other during his Jets tenure, as the team is heading towards yet another losing season under his watch.
But C-Mac wants Jets fans to know it can be a lot worse.
“He made a tremendous [Jamal] Adams trade, and last year he drafted the Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year, and if you think that’s easy, it’s not,” C-Mac said.
“He drafted a running back in the second round in Breece Hall, and he’s shown an ability to be all-world…he didn’t do a great job building the offensive line, but to be fair, it’s a ton of injuries. He has a quarterback that can’t overcome poor offensive line play, and a coach that can’t scheme around it.”
Douglas has of course had his bad misses, like drafting Zach Wilson second overall in 2021. But he has also done plenty of good, and sometimes, the coaches and players that are brought in simply need to get the job done.
“I don’t think Joe Douglas has done a great job, I don’t think he should be untouchable,” C-Mac said. “But I don’t think he’s the worst. I think the defense he built is pretty damn good. I know he got burned last week, but D.J. Reed and Sauce Gardner are one of the best combos in the league.”
