Evan came out firing to start Monday’s show, furious with the fact that not only is Zach Wilson reportedly hesitant to take the starting job back, but that fans were seemingly defending him, 24 hours after many fans said that the Jets’ offensive struggles should exonerate Wilson.
“That is not the right conclusion,” Evan said. “The conclusion is, Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh collected the worst group of quarterbacks in the history of football and shoved it down our throats.
“The New York Jets are a pathetic institution. Pathetic. This general manager, in a normal world, would deserve to lose his job. This head coach, in a normal world, would deserve to lose his job…it’s another day in which I wake up embarrassed to root for this football team. This story that has come out is embarrassing for the franchise. It makes Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas look bad.”
So, Evan criticizing Wilson’s reported reluctance is by no means him supporting the Jets brass. In fact, he says it’s getting close to owner Woody Johnson needing to go “nuclear” and firing everybody.
“I’m not defending either one of them when I say ‘Zach, grow the hell up,’” Evan said. “This is a pathetic franchise…and everything about it is broken right now.”
