Gio: Jets are in worse spot than any other team in NFL

The Jets’ hyped season has hit bottom, as a blowout loss to the Cardinals dropped their record to 3-7, and essentially ended their Wild Card hopes in a year where many wondered if they could contend for a Super Bowl.

The interim head coach looks in above his head, the 40-year-old quarterback expected to lead the team looks like a shell of himself, and the defense many thought would be the strength of the team has been a tackling mess.

For Gio, there is no other team with as bad an outlook as Gang Green.

“The Jets right now are in the worst situation out of every single team in the NFL,” Gio said. “It’s not just because of their record. It’s the future. What do they do?”

Rodgers looks like an aging quarterback who, despite voicing his desire to play multiple seasons in New York, could elect to call it a career if he doesn’t believe he can physically perform near his elite level anymore. That would mean Joe Douglas, who whiffed horribly on his last attempt, would need to draft another quarterback, if he is even given the chance to. Then there’s the head coaching position, as Gio wonders who could look at the situation in Florham Park and believe it’s an attractive destination.

“Those best guys...there’s no way they’re going to the Jets,” Gio said. “Robert Saleh, very respected guy among coaches, got done dirty by the owner...Bill Belichick, one of the most respected coaches in the history of the game, trashes Woody Johnson on a weekly basis on national TV...nobody in the league worth anything is going to take that job.”

Jerry agrees that the outlook for the Jets is awful, and bringing in the right leader to be the next head coach seems like a daunting task, as the organization has done an awful job making the position seem like an attractive one.

“What do you do at head coach? Does the quarterback come back?” Jerry said. “If Aaron Rodgers is finished, they’re in cap hell next year...does a coach want this job?”
