Gio couldn’t help but feel anger when watching the Jets players answer countless questions about Taylor Swift’s reported attendance at Sunday night’s game, and believes it should be the ultimate bulletin board material for a team in desperate need of a spark.
“This is such an opportunity for them. If you want to turn your season around, this can catapult you better than any cheesy ass Rob Saleh meme or Instagram speech,” Gio said. “Having everybody talking about Taylor Swift, having guys that were in the locker room - they asked every single damn player about Taylor Swift - that would piss me off so much that I would put together the best performance I ever had in my life.
“We were supposed to be the team everyone was talking about, now everyone’s talking about the tight end’s girlfriend? I don’t give a crap who the hell she is. Go out there and beat the piss out of them!”
Gio doesn’t expect the Jets to win, but after dealing with all the Swift craze this week, he at least hopes to see the team come out with fire and play a competitive game, and not become the backburner story to a relationship involving a star on the other team.
“If this doesn’t pull out a demon inside of you on Sunday night, and play possessed, nothing will,” Gio said. “You’re either gonna take this negative energy surrounding this team and all of this bullcrap, and turn it into something special, or you’re gonna get steamrolled like the Chicago Bears.”
