On Monday, Gio declared that he was waiting for the Zach Wilson defenders to call in and apologize for fighting with him constantly about Wilson’s ability.
But now, as Wilson gets demoted to QB3 and likely won’t play another down for the Jets again, Gio is just relieved to not have to talk about the former No. 2 overall pick anymore.
“There’s a relief that I have in me that I haven’t had in talking about sports in a very, very long time,” Gio said. “It’s over now. We don’t have to worry about it anymore.
“He’s not gonna get another opportunity. I don’t have to fight with the Zach Wilson defenders. I don’t have to watch him play anymore.”
Still, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be Jets concerns to talk about, as Gio has a feeling moving on from Wilson will not solve all of Gang Green’s problems.
“Now that we’re moving on from that,” Gio said. “The next thing is, is this offense really gonna get better with the guys they have on the roster?”
