Gio believes the Jets are in a good spot to take down the Chargers on Monday night, but he wants to see the Zach Wilson that he saw in a narrow loss to the Chiefs the last time Gang Green played in primetime.
“I feel like in that Kansas City game, he let loose in a way we hadn’t seen before, and threw caution to the wind. I feel like we haven’t seen that since,” Gio said. “That’s the guy I want to see, the guy taking chances here or there.”
Wilson has kept it conservative since then, and limited turnovers as a result, but Gio wants to see more shots down the field, like Wilson executed at the end of regulation last weekend against the Giants, when it was absolutely necessary.
“This is a week that I like the Jets a lot. I think he’s going to play well for him,” Gio said. “If there’s gonna be a week that he feels like he can throw the ball, it’s this week.
“If he can’t throw the ball down the field this week, just retire.”
