Gio: Zach Wilson better show up with 'competent' performance against Bills

The Jets defense is likely going to have its hands full against the heavy firepower of the Bills offense on Sunday, but Gio is only concerned with how the Gang Green offense looks with Zach Wilson under center.

After last weekend’s disaster, Gio says it’s time the former No. 2 pick starts playing like a future franchise star, or questions about his ceiling will only grow louder.

“Execution Zach, you better show it,” Gio said. “All eyes on you, because there is really nothing else about this team that people are concerned about.

“Everybody thinks the defense got better…the wide receivers, you feel like you’ve got tight ends and wide receivers who are capable. The offensive line has certainly has had their issues with injuries, but all eyes are gonna be on him. This is it.”

What does Gio need to see from Wilson on Sunday? He’s not asking for much, simply some competent decision making and at least some progress that suggests there will be more improvements in the future.

“He’s gotta come out and have at least, not a disaster first half,” Gio said. “Can we have a competent first half? Can we have no turnovers, convert on a couple third downs, maybe get some points in the first half? That’s what I at least, at the minimum, would hope for.”
