Joe Douglas and the Jets did not move Elijah Moore or Denzel Mims before Tuesday’s trade deadline, hanging on to a pair of receivers who each reportedly requested a trade in recent months.

As for Moore, a former second-round pick by the Douglas regime, the Jets GM says the two sat down to talk, and still envisions Moore as a part of the team’s young core and future.

“We love Elijah…we think the world of him,” Douglas said. “We’re a football family, and any time there’s an issue, we like to handle that in-house. I was able to have a really good one-on-one conversation with Elijah. We think the world of him. We think he has a bright future as a New York Jet.”

Does Douglas have any concerns that two of the team’s top drafted receivers in recent years have requested to be traded?

“Each situation is mutually exclusive, and I talked about it regarding Elijah, but we think the world of both these guys and we love them here in New York,” Douglas said. “Both guys love football, they work hard, and I think you saw some of Denzel’s work pay off two days ago, making some plays in the Patriots game. We love both of these guys.”
