The Jets have lost one of their top pass rushers for the season, as the team announced that defensive end Carl Lawson suffered a torn Achilles at Thursday’s practice in Green Bay.

Additionally, safety Zane Lewis was injured at practice as well and is also out for the season.

Lawson, brought over on a big three-year, $45 million deal this past offseason, suffered the injury on a pass rush during a red zone drill and had to be carted off the field, silencing the atmosphere around the practice with the Packers. He was sent for an MRI, which revealed the tear, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Lawson was putting together a productive training camp before the injury, showing signs that he was worth his contract, but he won’t make his debut for Gang Green until next year.

Lewis, undrafted out of Air Force last year, suffered a torn patellar tendon and a sprained MCL.

In better news for New York, Denzel Mims and Sheldon Rankins, who both left the field with trainers on Thursday, have been listed as day-to-day.
