Gio: Jets losing out on Aaron Rodgers would result in 'total disaster'

Boomer Esiason believes the Jets are going to end up with Aaron Rodgers, the team’s top quarterback target.

Gio says they better get their big fish, because if they don’t, with Derek Carr now off the board, the backup options get a lot less enticing.

“If it’s not [Rodgers], it’s gonna be a complete mess,” Gio said. “A total, rubble disaster. Just prepare yourself for it.

“People screaming, ‘They screwed it up! They should have signed Carr, why did you put your faith in this whacko, and he left us at the altar?! Now we gotta put our faith in Jimmy Garoppolo, Ryan Tannehill, or Andy Dalton?’”

Gio is clearly not inspired by any of those other options outside of Rodgers now that Carr is off the board, and says it could get ugly if Rodgers elects to retire, go back to Green Bay, or sign elsewhere.

“If it’s not [Rodgers],” Gio said. “They’re screwed.”
