Jets players react to Aaron Rodgers injury: 'It just sucks'

Shortly after the euphoria of grabbing an overtime win over the Bills on Monday night, the Jets had to deal with the sobering reality that they will likely be without their star quarterback for the rest of the season.

Aaron Rodgers went down with what the team expects to be a season-ending Achilles injury, and his teammates were left to process the news after one of the franchise’s most memorable wins in years.

“The league is better when Aaron Rodgers is on the field,” Dalvin Cook said. “It's bad that he went down so early, the people didn't get to see what we've been working on this whole time. It's just how the ball rolls sometimes.”

Cook signed with the Jets in large part due to playing alongside Rodgers, ceding carries to Breece Hall as the RB1 in exchange for getting a chance to win a title.

Now, the Jets will have to lean heavily on the run game with Zach Wilson under center.

“It sucks, bro,” Hall said of the Rodgers injury. “I'm happy about the win, but I rather have that guy on the team, so it just sucks.”

Wilson will be tasked with replacing Rodgers and keeping the Jets’ playoff dreams afloat, after initially being expected to be tutored by Rodgers until the future Hall of Famer was ready to retire. Instead, he will be thrown back into the fire.

“I have so much love for [Rodgers],” Wilson said. “So my heart goes out to him.”
