The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reported Monday that Middleton suffered a torn pectoral muscle during Gang Green's loss and is expected to miss the rest of the season. However, later Monday, coach Todd Bowles said that while Middleton might indeed have a torn pec, he is still undergoing tests, WFAN's Brian Costello reported.
Middleton was filling in for injured starter Marcus Maye, who is out for a few weeks with a broken thumb.
The 25-year-old safety missed all of last season after suffering a torn pectoral last summer.

If Middleton is out for the year, the Jets would be down to their third-string safety, Terrence Brooks.
The Jets have also been playing without two of the team's top three cornerbacks, as Trumaine Johnson (quad) and Buster Skrine (concussion) have missed the last few games.
Jamal Adams and Morris Claiborne are the only key members of New York's secondary that have remained healthy this season.
