Jets sign WR Mecole Hardman to one-year deal: Report

The Jets are reportedly making another addition to their receiving core.

According to NFL Network insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Gang Green has signed former Chiefs wideout Mecole Hardman to a one-year, $6.5 million deal. The 25-year-old is fresh off a Super Bowl victory with Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City, a franchise that the up-and-coming Jets are trying to catch.

Hardman was a Pro Bowler in his rookie year with Kansas City in 2019, but only played in eight games last season, tallying 297 receiving yards with four touchdowns. He had previously appeared in every game since being drafted.

Hardman was placed on IR in Week 9 last season, and didn’t return until the AFC Championship, though he wound up reaggravating a core injury that required surgery after the Super Bowl.

As for who will be throwing to Hardman and the rest of the Jets receiving core that also now includes Allen Lazard, that remains to be seen. The pursuit of Aaron Rodgers is still on, but there have been no reports of progress in trade talks with the Packers in recent days.
