Jets rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore has been generating plenty of promise so far in training camp, but now the team will wait and hope that the second-round pick will still be able to participate in practice.
Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters after Thursday’s practice that the hyped wideout is dealing with a quadriceps issue, and will undergo an MRI.
“It was during practice,” Saleh said. “Trying to figure out where, I think it was during one-on-ones or something, but we’ll see.”
Saleh is trying to remain positive on the outlook for Moore, who could be an immediate playmaker for New York’s offense and a top target for rookie quarterback Zach Wilson.
“I’m trying to get a feel,” Saleh said. "I'm an optimist, so I'm never worried until I'm worried. So like I said, we’ll see. We’ll know more.”
The regular season starts in a month, so Gang Green can only wait for the MRI results and hope it doesn’t put Moore’s Week 1 availability into question.
