Alijah Vera-Tucker has been ruled out for the season with an Achilles injury, and Evan couldn’t help but feel sorry for the promising offensive lineman, who leaves behind a big void that the Jets need to fill.

“Two years in a row, this poor guy has suffered season-ending injuries in that dump of a city known as Denver, Colorado,” Evan said when he first heard the news live on the air during Monday’s show. “I feel horrible for this kid. This is the second year that this versatile offensive lineman…has suffered a season-ending injury in the same freaking location.”

Evan and Tiki told Joe Benigno when he joined the show soon after, and while he also felt for Vera-Tucker, he couldn’t help but worry that it could be the continuation of a trend.

“It’s sad…hate to say it, but sounds like he might be a little injury prone,” Joe said. “You never know. We’ll see.”

Vera-Tucker suffered a season-ending triceps injury in Denver last season, and will have played just 12 games over the last two seasons after playing 16 in 2021. It will be a big loss, and Tiki, like Joe, hopes that it won’t be the start of a trend for the former first-round pick.

“I hate to throw that tag on kids, but if you can’t stay healthy, it’s the same conversation we have about Saquon Barkley,” Tiki said. “You don’t want to say he’s injury prone, but he’s injury prone.”
