Robert Saleh wouldn’t entertain whether Zach Wilson has played his last game with the Jets after being ruled out for Sunday’s season finale, but he did praise the former No. 2 pick and reinforce his public belief that Wilson has a future in the NFL.
It was enough to tire out Keith, who is sick of hearing Saleh relentlessly praise Wilson despite all of his struggles on the field.
“Rob, give it a break,” Keith said. “You don’t have to be a cheerleader for this kid. Nobody is paying you to say this kid is gonna have a long career in this league. Nobody knows that. he’s been statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in the league, and he’s led to your terrible record as a head coach. But you’re still endorsing the guy.”
Saleh has consistently supported Wilson over the years, despite actions from the team showing that they had lost belief in his ability by benching him for Mike White last season before going all in for Aaron Rodgers. Keith can only hope the Wilson talk, and the overall talk from Saleh, is over soon.
“Rob Saleh’s press conferences are a joke,” Keith said. “Let somebody else talk.”
