Quinnen Williams continues to campaign for a new deal, and the star Jets defensive tackle has now scrubbed the team from his Twitter bio.
In a change caught on Monday morning, Williams’ bio now reads, ‘Defensive tackle for the …,’ instead of ‘Defensive tackle for the New York Jets.’
A quick scroll though Williams’ Twitter page makes it easy to detect his frustration with a lack of a new contract. He retweeted the news of fellow defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence getting a big $90 million deal with the Giants earlier this month, then tweeted a sarcastic reply to a video showing general manager Joe Douglas expressing optimism of a deal between the two sides getting done.
The All-Pro defender is set to make less than $10 million in the upcoming season, his fifth in the league. He clearly wants to be paid for his massive production, much like Lawrence and Daron Payne have been this offseason, and held out of voluntary workouts as a result.
Clearly, he isn’t happy with how negotiations have gone so far.
