Robert Saleh: Jets will be 'aggressive as heck' in examining quarterback situation

Robert Saleh seems to agree with the sentiment of many Jets fans.

The team has a load of talent that is ready to win now, but the quarterback position has to improve in order to take that next step.

So, with that in mind, Saleh says the team will put plenty of focus into examining the quarterback situation, whether it includes Zach Wilson back at starter or on the bench,

“We’ve got a really, really good core of guys,” Saleh said. “We are going to be aggressive as heck when it comes to quarterback play and making sure we do everything we can to satisfy that position.

“Do I want to be as arrogant as to say I think this is plug and play where we’re gonna get better? When you can run the ball, you have good special teams, and you have a top five defense, you’re supposed to be in the playoffs. I think we’ll be able to continue in the trajectory we had been going on.”

By being aggressive, does Saleh mean the team will seek outside help in the form of a trade or signing of a veteran quarterback?

“That’s where it becomes a Joe [Douglas] question,” Saleh laughed.

Douglas has expressed continued confidence in Wilson as well, but it is starting to seem like that confidence is giving way to the realization that the rest of the team they constructed is ready to reach the playoffs, but quarterback needs to be addressed by the start of next season. So, a change at QB1 could be on the way this offseason.
