The Jets exorcised their AFC East demons on Sunday with a blowout win over the Dolphins, ending a 12-game losing streak against divisional opponents.
It also marked the first time since 2009 that Gang Green has held a winning record through its first five games of the season.
But all of those numbers are history, especially in the eyes of head coach Robert Saleh. He made it clear to his group in the locker room after the 40-17 win that he wants these kind of wins to be the new norm.
“We said 60 minutes, one by one we were going to knock them down,” Saleh said. “Guys, that was 60 minutes. Especially when that fourth quarter turned up, that was awesome. Absolutely awesome.
“Now, I’d love to go party and do all that s--t, but guys, make that s--t normal. It is absolutely normal. Things are f----g changing around here. For the men that put on those uniforms, that s--t is normal.”
The Jets have a winning streak, a winning record, and a core of rookies that shined in Sunday’s win, and Saleh wanted his team to know that all of the above should become a habit.
“This is the first of many, guys,” Saleh said.
