Robert Saleh still believes in Zach Wilson: 'It's gonna click'

Zach Wilson made the throws that counted in the fourth quarter to set up a Jets overtime win over the rival Giants, but his stat line left much to be desired, to say the least.

Wilson finished with 17 completions on 36 attempts, throwing for 240 yards and a touchdown. He took four sacks, fumbled the ball twice (one on an exchange with his fourth-string center), and his 47 percent completion percentage was his worst of the season.

Still, Robert Saleh expressed his belief in Wilson, who many believe isn’t showing the necessary growth to buy that he can be the team’s future quarterback.

“That kid’s got a lot of resilience and he's going to stay in it,” Saleh said. “He's got a lot of confidence in himself. There's things that he knows he's got to clean up.

“I like the direction that Zach's going. Is it perfect? No. Will it ever be perfect? Nobody's perfect. No quarterback in the league is perfect. But he’s got so much resilience and fight that he doesn’t lose confidence as the game goes on. he gains confidence. Eventually, it’s gotta click, and it’s gonna click for the offense.”
