Sal: Joe Douglas seems to believe Jets weren't worth going all-in on at trade deadline

Sal is not a believer in the Jets, declaring on Monday that they have “no chance” to make the playoffs after barely getting by the Giants and third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito on Sunday.

After Gang Green’s lack of moves at the trade deadline on Tuesday, Sal believes Joe Douglas may agree with him, to some extent.

“Maybe it’s because he doesn’t believe in this team as much as you do,” Sal told BT. “Maybe he thought ‘Eh, you know what, the right move wasn’t there, we’ll go all in in the offseason,’ which I kind of understand, because I don’t think the Jets are that good.

“Why go all-in on a top wide receiver, even if there is one available, if it’s not going to make much of a difference?”

BT wanted Davante Adams, who wasn’t moved, and the Jets instead stood pat, doing little to address their shorthanded offensive line as well. Sal says it’s a potential sign of acknowledgement from the front office that the expectations with Zach Wilson as the starting quarterback are not high.

“Joe Douglas, do you think he believes in the quarterback?” Sal said. “I think Joe Douglas looks at this team…as a 4-3 football team with a backup quarterback, and the offense has struggled. It’s not worth going all in right now.”
