Robert Saleh has heard his share of criticism from Jets fans this season, and Sunday was no exception, as many called out the head coach for singing the praises of his team’s performance after finishing up another season with double-digit losses.
Evan was among those criticizing Saleh for taking that route, but Tiki came to the head coach’s defense.
“The coach is being the optimist,” Tiki said. “The coach is being the 30,000-foot leader.
“He’s trying to create the winning mindset. You don’t do that by talking about the negativity. You don’t do it by talking about every little thing. ‘Mekhi Becton sucked this year, we probably have to move on from him. Zach Wilson was a terrible backup, that’s totally on me.’ You don’t talk about those things. You talk about the positive, because it prepares you and starts to relay a foundation of what’s to come.”
Garrett Wilson seemed to take the route of calling out the team and the coaches to be better next season, but Tiki says the Saleh took the right approach by not fixating on all that went wrong, and instead pointed out the positives to take into the offseason, which will be a critical one for the organization.
