Amid uncertainty regarding Justin Jefferson’s future in Minnesota, Tiki is all for the Jets going out and making a big splash for arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL.
“The Jets should go get him. Absolutely, they should go get him,” Tiki said. “They need talent. They need someone alongside Garrett Wilson, and they have a short window to do it because of Aaron Rodgers.
“Think about the urgency of the Jets right now, from the head coach, the coordinator, Joe Douglas. There is a ‘We need to win right now.’”
Jefferson has not yet agreed to a contract extension with the Vikings, and if he doesn’t, many wonder if Minnesota could trade him before what will be the final year of his current deal. If that happens, Tiki says the Jets should be waiting to pounce.
“I know there are a lot of glaring issues, including along the offensive line,” Tiki said. “But when you have the opportunity to go get one of, if not the best free agents soon-to-be available on the market, you go and get Justin Jefferson.”
Evan, noting the high price it would take to get Jefferson, is done giving up the farm for stars, as so far, the deal for Rodgers hasn’t paid dividends.
“Enough of the stargazing,” Evan said. “We don’t have to go give up our first-round pick, potentially.”
