Evan Roberts tried to avoid social media during his holiday break, but he just had to look when he heard the Knicks had made a trade…and yeah, it was an interesting reaction.
“I see fire in the sky and burning mountains! Leon Rose is a schmuck! How could you trade Immanuel Quickley? Who the hell is OG Anunoby?” Evan ranted. “And I loved every moment of it! I’m seeing Hellfire and brimstone amongst Knick fans. They are panicking! ‘How do you give up on RJ Barrett, we drafted him No. 3! The pick to the Pistons, it’s like a first round pick! We're not gonna get Donovan Mitchell or Deonte Murray, and when Luka asks for a trade, we're doomed!’ It was panic city!”
Okay, so the interesting reaction was from Knicks fans, who were apoplectic that the Knicks gave up Barrett and Quickly to get OG Anunoby, and you’d expect nothing less from Nets fan Evan on that tip…but here’s a secret: he actually thinks it’s a good trade for the ‘Bockers.
“For the Knicks and the Raptors to make a trade with each other while they're being sued means it's a win-win!” Evan yelled. “Yeah, you gave up two guys you didn't want to give up, whom you drafted and watched them develop, but you've seen the ceiling of IQ here, and you’ve seen the ceiling of RJ anywhere, and you got back OG Anunoby.”
A return the Knicks needed…and got the best of?
“If I needed to pick…besides a superstar, if you just told me to pick something the Knicks needed, I’d say, how about a wing player who could defend at a high level and hit the corner three?” Evan said. “That guy is OG Anunoby, and the best player in this trade is OG Anunoby.”
